Joseph D. Chantos, 52, of Georgetown, passed away at 8:34 p.m. (June 3, 2019), at home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born the son of Joseph and Judith (Gocken) Chantos on May 17, 1967, in Danville.
He was united in marriage to Gretchen Pfeifer on August 6, 2009, in Las Vegas, NV. She survives.
He also is survived by his sons, Zechariah Andrew Chantos and Gabriel Daniel Chantos; his stepson, Jonathan Gilbreath; his sister, Jackie (Mark) Biggs; nieces, Brittany Barrett and Lexi Arrasmith; his aunts, Annie Janosik and Sue Otis; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a plumber and operated his business, Liberty Mechanical, for eight years. He was a member of the Otto Newlin Shooting Range. He sponsored his son’s Little League baseball teams.
Joe enjoyed reading and history as well as loved animals and playing Xbox. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his sons, Zechariah and Gabriel. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Graveside Service took place June 10, at Danville National Cemetery, 1900 E. Main St., Danville. There was a gathering of friends and family at American Legion Post 210, Danville, following the graveside service.
Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Georgetown, 200 E. West St., assisted his family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to his children’s college funds.
