Plans are underway for several events this fall being hosted by the Westville Lions Club. With events like the Candy Day Drive, 6th Annual K9 Walk for Leaderdogs for the Blind, and our Annual Trunk or Treat event there is something for everyone to reach out and help those around us.
On October 11th and 12th the Lions will be in the streets at the square in Westville taking donations and handing out candy to raise money for the Lions of Illinois Foundation. This Foundation provides 16 programs that we bring to our communities free of charge largely in part to the funds raised during the state wide Candy Day Drive.
Please take a minute and stop and donate.
October 26th will be the date for the Lions’ 6th Annual K9 Walk for Leaderdogs for the Blind. Come out with your 4 legged friends and walk with us to raise money for this excellent facility. Registration is $20 before Oct. 18 and participants will receive an event tshirt with our great sponsors listed on the back.
Registration is available online at www.westvillelionsclub.net. You can still register after Oct. 18th but you wouldn’t get the tshirt.
If you would like to be a sponsor contact event chair Tracy Acord or President Darren Van Duyn for more information. Leaderdogs for the Blind is a facility located in Rochester Hill Michigan that provides lead dogs for the blind individuals seeking independence in their everyday life.
These dogs are free to the recipients due to the fundraising efforts of Lions Clubs like ours.
Trunk or Treat will be taking place Halloween night from 6-8 pm at Zamberletti park. Businesses and individuals will decorate their trunks, SUV’s, and back of their trucks and hand out goodies to all of the trick or treaters.
If you would be interested in doing a trunk contact event chairperson Lion Kelli Shepherd at 217-304-0138.
The Westville Lions Club is the longest standing service organization serving the Westville Community since 1940. They are a part of the world’s largest service organization, Lions Clubs International with over 1.4 million people serving all around the world.
If you would be interested in being a part of this group feel free to contact Membership Chairperson Lion Tracy Acord at 217-304-3981 or club President Lion Darren Van Duyn at 217-260-8169.
They meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday’s of the month at the American Legion.
