Midwest Gymnastics win 15 medals in regional competition

Midwest Gymnastics of Danville had 10 gymnasts compete in the regional championships. The team won 15 medals in the regional championships.

Midwest Gymnastics of Danville, had 15 gymnasts qualify for the Regional Championships and 10 of the girls were able to make the trip.

The team girls competed on floor, bars, beam, and vault in the Illinois State Championships back in April and from there, ten of the girls moved on to the Region 5 Regional Championships, which is comprised of the top gymnasts from Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.

The Regional Championships were held on April 26th in Bourbonnais, Illinois for Midwest’s Level 8 gymnast, Bauer Rogger of Danville, Illinois.  Rogger is in 11th grade at Danville High School.

The Regional Championships were held on May 3-5th in Lexington, Kentucky for Midwest’s Xcel Silver gymnasts.  Lilly Johnson of Danville, Illinois is in third grade at Schlarman Academy, and Macy Tuggle of Oakwood, Illinois is in second grade at Oakwood Grade School.  Both Johnson and Tuggle were two of sixteen gymnasts selected to represent and compete on Team Illinois.  

The remaining Midwest Xcel Silver gymnasts, competing individually and representing Illinois, were: Aubrey Bryant of Danville, Illinois-1st grade-Northeast Elementary Magnet School; Maddy Dillon of Danville, Illinois-4th grade-Bismarck Elementary School; Tenley Hart of Georgetown, Illinois-2nd grade-Pinecrest Elementary School; Sara Kercheval of Fairmount, Illinois-5th grade-Salt Fork North; Jurnee Mason of Danville, Illinois-1st grade-Northeast Elementary Magnet School; Layla Seaman of Williamsport, Indiana-1st grade-Warren Central Elementary; and Cooper Wilson-Danville, Illinois-2nd grade-Northeast Elementary Magnet School.  

The Midwest Gymnastics gymnasts brought home a total of 15 medals from the Regional Championships, including Aubrey Bryant bringing home a first place Regional Championship medal on vault.

The girls have worked extremely hard all season with countless hours of practice put in at the gym as well as countless hours and dedication by their coaches Barbara Young and Samantha Cole.
