The Vermillion County Community Foundation is pleased to award a $1,000 donation to the Vermillion County Indiana Historical Society for partial costs associated with expenses that have incurred due to significant storm damage.
Stephen Axtell, President of the Historical Society states, “The Historical Society is seeking $11,500 to repair damage to the roof, turret, and masonry of the west façade of the Historic Vermillion County Jail. Once repaired the structure will be back open to the public. It’s an iconic building that houses a great deal of history through its assortment of historic items and collections that have been gifted to the Society over the years.”
Dale White, CEO of the Foundation says, “The Vermillion County Historical Society serves a critical role in the county by providing tours for visitors to view the unique architecture of the structure and its wonderful collection of items it houses. It’s a pleasure for the Community Foundation to support such a worthwhile organization.”
