Cheryl L. Burke, 70, of Westville, passed away at 8:53 a.m. (April 5, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She was born Oct. 31, 1946, in Danville, the daughter of William Mielke and Lois Miles. She had married John E. Burke on June 7, 1969, in Westville, until his passing Nov. 1, 2016.
Vermilion County has lost a great genealogist and historian. Donald H. Claypool passed this life (April 13, 2017). He was 81. He was born 21 February 1936 to Richard and Myrtle Huffman Claypool in a cabin near the Alvin area of Vermilion County Illinois.
Phillip Dompe, Sr., 75, of Westville, passed away (April 15, 2017) at 6 a.m. at Burgin Manor in Olney. He was born June 6, 1941, in Danville, the son of Domenico and Gina “Jean” (Bertelli) Dompe.
WT Hall (Dub) gained his wings on Palm Sunday April 9, 2017. WT was born the son of Henry and Elizabeth Hall in Clarksdale, Miss., on Jan. 18, 1961. He served in the U.S. Army for four years. He also had a culinary license.
Catlin - Thomas W. “Tom” Huffman, 73, well-known Catlin insurance agent and partner in the former Huffman-Miller Insurance Agency of Catlin, passed away at 11:01 pm (April 12, 2017) at his home.Tom was born April 15, 1943 in Danville, IL to Virgil Wayne and Ina Belle Brooks Huffman.
Rachel Sue Shannon, 71, of Westville, went to be with the Lord on (April 14, 2017) at 1 p.m. at her home surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was born Dec. 21, 1945, the daughter of Carroll and Mary Wegar Lawson, in Akron, Ohio.
PERRYSVILLE, IND. - Martha Stout, 87, of Perrysville, passed away at 11:10 p.m. EDT (April 8, 2017) at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.She was born March 13, 1930, in Perrysville, Ind., the daughter of the late Clarence and Maxine (Perry) Wilson.
Raymond Watts, 86, of Westville, passed away (April 14, 2017) at 10:58 p.m. at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Westville to Estel and Mary (Usalis) Watts. Raymond married Betty Allie on April 7, 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville. She survives.
