Registration opens for 2018 VCCD summer camps

The Vermilion County Conservation District has opened registration for the 2018 summer camp programs at Forest Glen and Kennekuk County Parks.  

The District offers the following one-day programs to children ages three – 15, concentrating on quality outdoor and nature experiences.

Ages three-five years:  Toddling Into Nature [10-11 a.m. or 2 –3 p.m.] , Kennekuk– “Wonderful Wetlands”, June 20 or June 21;  “The Need for Seeds”, July 11 or July 12.

K-2nd grade:  Wonderbugs, Kennekuk – June 28, 9-11:30 a.m.; Hike through the wetlands, and find what lives there.

1st-3rd grade:  Pioneer Kids, Forest Glen – June 27, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.; Experience life as a pioneer kid at The Homestead Cabin!

3rd-5th grade:  Kids Cooking Class, Forest Glen – July 24, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Mini chefs for the morning will learn the art of pizza making with fresh garden herbs.

3rd-5th grade:  Science in Nature, Kennekuk – June 26, 9 – 11:30 a.m.; Campers perform hands-on nature experiments.

4th-6th grade:  Creek Stomping Ecology Camp, Forest Glen – July 19 or July 21, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.; an exciting day of adventure and exploring with naturalists, investigating aquatic life and the surrounding forest habitat.

5th-10th grade:  Photographing Nature, Kennekuk – July 10, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.; No experience necessary, a photography workshop to cover basic digital camera operation then outside on a photo safari!

Class sizes are limited.
