Cheeseburgers and Fun free public event

The Vermilion County Conservation District’s Bunker Hill Historic Area will host the “Cheeseburgers and Fun” event at Kennekuk County Park, northwest of Danville on Saturday, August 12th.

Admission is free for the entire family but donations will be accepted. The event includes great entertainment with “Rodman Rail” from 2 to 4 pm; “Left 4 Dead” from 5 to 7 pm; and the ever popular “Lady Luck” from 8 to 10 pm.

The Kennekuk Road Runners are hosting the Howl at the Moon 8-hour Run/Walk beginning at 7am.  There will also be displays at the buildings at the Bunker Hill Historic area as well as a chainsaw carving demonstration.  Pictures will be on display with the updated proposed Phase 2 and 3 of the Education Center.

Bring your own lawn chairs, and even though no alcohol is served at the event, coolers are permitted.

Cheeseburger Cookout is a fundraiser for the VCCDFoundation.

The Foundation is hosting a Cheeseburger Cookout during the event beginning at 3 pm offering cheeseburgers, with chips and soda for just $6 while they last.  The money raised from the Cheeseburger Cookout will go toward the projects of the Foundation as well as the Environmental Education Center at Kennekuk County Park.

With your Cheeseburger purchase is a chance to win a cash prize. Other food will be available as well from vendors beginning at 11am. Soft drinks will be available from the vendors.  Coolers will be allowed in the entertainment area.

The participating car clubs include: Illiana Antique Auto Club, Junkyard Dogs, Mustang Club of Danville and the Central Illinois Corvette Cruisers of Illinois. The Annual Bunker Hill Run Car and Tractor Show runs from 8am to 10pm featuring a cruise to the Illiana Healthcare System Medical Center(the VA).  The event includes door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. There are no entry fees for participants, although donations are welcomed, and there will be no judging of vehicles.  It’s just a fun event for owners to show their vehicles to other car and antique tractor fans, so anyone owning a vehicle for the show is welcome.

There are still sponsorship opportunities available.  If you and/or your business is interested in receiving valuable promotional exposure to potential customers, contact the Vermilion County Conservation District at (217)442-1691 or 662-2142.
