CASA looking for volunteers

CASA of Vermilion and Edgar County is in need of volunteers to better serve the community.

By no fault of their own, hundreds of abused and neglected children in Vermilion and Edgar Counties are currently involved with the juvenile court and welfare system.

These children need an advocate whom they can depend on to fight for their best interests. That is where CASA comes in.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are trained volunteers whose role is to be the child’s “voice” in court.

Children at risk in the foster system are less likely to complete high school, enter college and develop stable family relationships of their own as adults.

If someone wants to help children in their community, are over the age of 21 and can spare at least an hour a month, CASA is looking for volunteers.

The next training begins January 22nd, please contact Lauren or Liz at 217-446-05975.

Those interested can also apply at under the volunteer tab.
