Behind the Tombstone taking place at Spring Hill Cemetery

The Vermilion County Museum Society will be hosting Behind the Tombstone, a resident guided walking tour at Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville, on September 14, 15, and 16, with all proceeds benefiting the Vermilion County Museum.

Dr. and Mrs. William H. Fithian will conduct tours of the cemetery and introduce their guests to historical characters including: Rev. William Webster (Tom Fricke), Orleatha Fithian (Brooke Kuchefski), Amos Williams (Wilbur Bolton), Stella Barkley (Lizzie Lerner), John and Katherine Pearson (Sonny Downing and Nancy Henderson), Willy Fowler (Paul Strain),  Abigail and Junior (Ann and Ron Soderstrom). Dr. & Mrs. Fithian characters will be portrayed by: Mike Young and Jamey Coutant, Gail and Barb Garner, Bryan Schroeder and Maureen Niedenthal, and Dave Techtow and Leslie Van Camp. 

Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 the day of the tour. Walk-ups are welcome to fill open times. On Friday evening, performances will be given at 6 and 6:30 PM. Saturday tour times are: 10, 10:30, 11, & 11:30 AM; 1, 1:30, 2, 5:30 & 6 PM. Sunday tour times start at 12:30 PM and run every half hour; with the last tour leaving at 3 PM. 

Each tour will accommodate 15 guests and will last about 1½ to 2 hours. Parking is available in the back lot of the YMCA off Jackson Street, and a shuttle will be available to transport guests to the English Street entrance of the cemetery. 

Tickets are available at the Vermilion County Museum, 116 N. Gilbert, Danville, IL  61832, during regular Museum hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM - 5 PM.
