Salt Fork football coach resigns, effective immediately

Longtime Salt Fork football coach Brian Plotner has stepped down.

Superintendent Phil Cox said Plotner submitted his letter of resignation on January 16. His resignation was effective immediately.


Comet girls claim county championship, boys runner-up

This year’s Vermilion County tournament was both rescheduled and relocated because of the snow on the first weekend, but both the Oakwood Comets and Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin boys and girls teams fought their way to the championship games at the David S. Palmer Arena.


NVHS Falcons win homecoming game

The North Vermillion Falcons won their homecoming game with a score of 71-63. 

The Falcon cheerleaders hosted the homecoming festivities.

Gracie Fulton and Malachi Whittington were crowned as the Homecoming Queen and King. 


Erin Toole signs letter of intent to play softball at Greenville University

Erin Toole, a Westville High School student and softball player, recently signed her Letter of Intent to play softball for the Greenville University Panthers in Greeneville, Illinois.


Winslow signs for Lincoln College Softball Team

Lincoln College Head Coach Boyd Nowicki has inked the second member of his 2019 recruiting class. 

Senior Emma Winslow, an outfielder from Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School, signed her letter of intent to officially become a Lynx.


Falcons hold on to beat Red Ramblers in homecoming match-up

North Vermillion defeated Attica High School 27-22 in their Homecoming football game on September 21.

North Vermilion’s Jonathon Kilgore received the Fountain Trust player of the game award.

Homecoming floats were presented before the start of the game with a holiday theme.


Danville graduates make NFL rosters

As teams trimmed their rosters down to 53 players Saturday, two former Danville High School standouts found themselves still on an active roster.

Westville Youth Football Cheer/Dance hosting sign-ups for 2018

Westville Youth Football Cheer/Dance will be hosting sign-ups at the Zamberletti Park concession stand on July 28, from 9 a.m - 1 p.m., July 29 from 12-4 p.m., August 4 from 9 a.m - 1 p.m., and August 5 from 12-4 p.m.

Children in kindergarten through Eighth grade may participate.
