Mary Miller Junior High receives Excellence in Education Grant

The library at Mary Miller Junior High was very sad, dusty, and depressing when Dr. Catherine Eads became Assistant Principal at Mary Miller Junior High in 2016. Students rarely checked out books.

Many books were in poor condition and several were outdated and were not interesting to students.

The room had become a storage space.


DACC Players stage murder in Bremer Theater

DACC Players, theatre troupe from Danville Area Community College, presents Page Three Murder on the Bremer stage, November 16 and 17, at 7 pm each evening.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $5/student or $10/adult. Credit cards will be accepted.


GRHS hosting Veteran's Day celebration

Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School will be having a Veterans Day assembly November 12, to celebrate and recognize local veterans.

Community members are invited to attend the program, which will start with coffee and donuts at 8:15 a.m. followed by the assembly at 9.

Vermilion County Master Gardeners present 'Using Prairie Plants in your Landscape'

On Monday November 12, University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator Ryan Pankau will present a unique program on prairies and how you can incorporate prairie plants into your landscape.

This free program will be held at the Danville Public Library at 6 p.m. 


Outstanding Seniors

Longview Bank and Trust, along with Georgetown Ridge Farm High School, is proud to announce the G.R.H.S. Outstanding Seniors.

The September award goes to Devin Lappin, and the October senior is Britney Garrison.

Distinguished veterinarian endows DACC Scholarship

Dr. Wesley Bieritz, retired from a long and distinguished career as a veterinarian in the Danville area, has established a new scholarship with the Danville Area Community College Foundation. His gift of $10,000 creates an endowment that will fund a $500 scholarship annually into perpetuity. The first award will be made for the 2019-2020 academic year.


Rep. Marron recognizes DHS future Problem Solvers

To mark National Teen Road Safety Week State Representative Mike Marron recognized the Danville High School Future Problem Solvers on October 23, for their continued work to promote safe driving by young adults throughout our area.


Lakeview College of Nursing students receive scholarships

Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville and Charleston, awarded numerous scholarships for the Fall 2018 semester. 

 The following received awards:

Megan Cox of Danville, received the Gene Rudisill Memorial Scholarship.   Cox attends Lakeview’s Danville Campus.


Westville Libary hosting pre-school program

Feeling Squirrely is the theme of the November preschool program at the Westville Public Library. 

It will be November 7 at 10 AM.  

They will have squirrel related stories, and a craft.
