Westville Library Pre-School Program

The October preschool program at the Westville Public Library will be October 3 at 10 AM. 

There will be mummy stories, a craft and activity.  

Please register to attend by calling the library at 267-3170 or stopping in at 233 S. State Street.

A first for DACC: Trustees appoint Cherry to board

For the first time in the 72-year-history of Danville Area Community College, an African-American community member will serve as a College Trustee.

Danville High Class of 1952 hosting reunion

The Danville High School Class of 1952 will be hosting their 66th class reunion at Jocko’s in Danville.

The reunion will take place from 1-4 p.m. on September 29.

Members of other classes in the 50’s are welcome to join.

Jonah Troglia named Westville High Student of the Month for September

Jonah Troglia, a freshman at Westville High, earned the September - Student of the Month Award for his work at Zamberletti Park this summer.  Darin Troglia, Jonah’s father, is a member of the Zamberletti Park Committee.  One of Darin’s goals was to get the basketball courts ready for the Lion’s Club 3 on 3 basketball tournament which was held during the Labor Day weekend.&n

Rolinitis inducted into ISU Chapter of Mortar Board

Mariah Rolinitis of Westville was inducted into the Illinois State University Mortar Board Chapter.

To be selected to the Red Tassel Chapter of Mortar Board at Illinois State University individuals must show distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service.

Behind the Tombstone taking place at Spring Hill Cemetery

The Vermilion County Museum Society will be hosting Behind the Tombstone, a resident guided walking tour at Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville, on September 14, 15, and 16, with all proceeds benefiting the Vermilion County Museum.

Pioneer craft day and Revolutionary War reenactment at Forest Glen

September 22 and 23, Forest Glen Preserve will host the Vermilion Valley Encampment – the Revolutionary War Reenactment.  

The hours of this free event are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on the 22nd; and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the 23rd. 

Forest Glen hosting natural wool dyeing experience

The lawn of the log cabin at Forest Glen Preserve, Westville, will be alive with colorful bundles of yarn hung to dry in the breeze on September 15th.  

The Champaign-Urbana Spinners & Weavers Guild will gather at the Pioneer Homestead to demonstrate the historic way wool was dyed.
