Catlin student named to Carthage College Dean's List

Carthage College has named Jori Rhodes of Catlin to its dean’s list for academic excellence during the fall 2018 semester.

Dean’s list honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average while carrying at least 14 credit hours during a semester.


Georgetown residents named to Dean's List at Bob Jones University

Bob Jones University named approximately 900 students to the Dean’s List for high academic achievement during the Fall semester.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.0-3.74 grade point average for the semester.


DACC’s corporate education classes and training for business & industry

Danville Area Community College’s Corporate Education department offers many open enrollment classes and also specialized training for business and industry.

Scholarships available for Vermillion County students

The scholarship application process is now open for high school seniors to apply for over 30 scholarships in Vermillion County (Indiana), offered through the Vermillion County Community Foundation. 

Nearly $50,000 will be awarded this spring.


Master gardeners encourage residents to make a resolution to get involved in gardening

Are you looking to volunteer more this year? Maybe you would like to be more active or spend more time outside? Consider joining the Master Gardener program in 2019.


Saint Mary of the Woods Alumni Club hosts holiday gathering in Paris

The Saint Mary of the Woods College Alumni Club of East Central Illinois and West Central Indiana met for their Holiday Gathering on December 13th at 6 p.m.

It was held at the San Marcos Restaurant in Paris, Illinois with eight members and one guest present.

Ralph Waldo Emerson was quoted as saying “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” 


Historical Society meeting

The Catlin Historical Society will be hosting their annual meeting on January 14 at 7 a.m. in the Catlin Village Community Room at 109 Sandusky St.

Everyone is welcome.

The topic of meeting will be buttons and button collecting.


January Preschool Program at Westville Public Library

“Winnie the Pooh” is the theme of the January 9th preschool program at the Westville Public Library. 

The program will be January 9th at 10 AM. 

There will be a story, craft and activity.
