Georgetown Ladies Community Club to add new category to Costume Contest

This time of year, children are getting excited about what costume they will wear for Halloween. ‘What are you going to be?’ is the question of the season.


Festival of Trees tickets now on sale

Central Illinois residents can get into the holiday spirit early with OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center’s 22nd annual Festival of Trees. 

The 2018 event, Let Heaven and Nature Sing, will be held November 10-14 at the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville.


Greater Shiloh Baptist Church hosting speakers for regional revival

Wood River Region #4 will be hosting their fall revival October 23-25 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church at 609 N. Bowman Ave. in Danville.

The revivals will start at 7 p.m. each night.

On October 23,  the speaker will be Reverend U.D. Williams of Union Baptist Church in Bloomington, Illinois.


War Museum's Night at the Museum event rescheduled for Oct. 20

The Vermilion County War Museum presents “Night at the Museum” this interactive tour takes guests back in time. Mannequins will come to life as Soldiers and civilians as they roam the halls.

Guests should make sure they stop and talk to them as they tell the stories of years gone by and tales from the front. 


Catlin Masons Lodge to host Chicken and Noodle Day

The Catlin Masonic Lodge will be hosting their 4th annual Chicken Noodle Day on October 19, from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The menu will be: Chicken and Noodles, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Bread and Butter, and Cookies.

The cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children.


GRFCYF hosting ghost rally

Georgetown Ridge-Farm Chrisman Youth Football will be hosting a ghost rally starting at Georgetown Park on October 20.

Those participating should bring, flashlights, gloves (plastic), bag to put your clues in, pen to write with and a full tank of gas.

Concessions will be available.


Star party taking place at Kennekuk

Everyone, including aliens, are invited to Kennekuk County Park’s Environmental Education Center for Dark Vermilion Skies’ next Star Party.

On October 27th, at 5:30 PM the public is invited to come dressed as your favorite alien, planet, star, or Sci-Fi space character. Prizes will be award for kids and adults.


Danville Kiwanis Clubs to present the 68th Annual Pancake and Sausage Day

A longstanding Danville area tradition will return to the David S. Palmer Arena on October 18th when the three local Kiwanis Clubs host the 68th annual Kiwanis Pancake and Sausage Day.  Serving will begin at 6 AM and continue throughout the day until 8 PM.


Kingman Fire Department Fish Fry

The Kingman Fire Department is sponsoring a JONAH fish fry on October 20 at the firehouse in Kingman.

It will take place from 4-8 p.m. (EST).

For in town deliveries call 397-3025 the day of the event.


Georgetown American Legion seeking donation for silent auction

The mission continues. American Legion Post 203 in Georgetown leads the way in the fight against Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with their K9 Warrior program, dedicated to saving the lives of area veterans.
