Georgetown American Legion to host ceremony on Memorial Day

On May 28, the American Legion Post 203 of Georgetown will present the flag at the Georgetown Cemetery in remembrance of Memorial Day.

The ceremony will open with the “Star Spangled Banner” sung by Lexi Ovall and a welcoming speech and prayer will be given by Reverend Blue of the Nazarene Church in Olivet.

After two years of providing local products to the community, founders Keegan Owen and John Flynn are ecstatic to start the third business season. 

Dr. Elghammer speaks at latest DAR Meeting

At the most recent Governor Bradford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution luncheon held at the Genealogical and Historical Society Library in Danville featured a guest lecture from Dr. Richard Elghammer, who addressed the revolution in neuroscience and its impact on children.

Village of Belgium hosting bake sale

The Village of Belgium Community Development Group is hosting a bake sale on June 2nd from 8 a.m - 2 p.m. at the Village Hall in Belgium ( 22 Orlea St).

Follow the signs to an array of sweet treats. 

If you like to bake and would like to donate a baked good the village will be available on June 1st to drop it off at the Village Hall.

Morey Chapel hosting Skip and Nyla Williamson for May gospel Sing

Morey Chapel Church of Christ will be welcoming Skip and Nyla Williamson for their SATURDAY, May 26 gospel sing which will start at 5:30 p.m.

 After the concert there will be food and  fellowship. 

'Tooth' the Rescue

On June 2, the family of Thomas Clark will be hosting “Tooth the rescue” a benefit to help them pay for dental care for Thomas.

The event will take place at the Danville Knights of Columbus and will begin at 12 noon with a benefit ride.

Registration for the benefit ride will begin at 11 a.m. All vehicles will be welcome.

Woodlawn Cemetery hosting rededication of veterans memorial

Plans are underway for a rededication ceremony for the veterans memorial marker at Woodlawn Cemetery northwest of Indianola on Saturday, May 26, starting at 1 p.m. The monument stone and flag pole were originally erected by the Sidell American Legion Post in the 1990s in memory of all the veterans buried at the cemetery.

Teen talent auditions for 'Disney's High School Musical On Stage!'

DLO Musical Theatre, in partnership with Teen Theatre Company of Danville, will be holding open auditions next week for roles in the upcoming teen production of Disney’s High School Musical On Stage. Performances will be August 11-12, in the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium at Danville High School.

Catlin Library hosting book sale

The Catlin Public Library invites you to a used book sale now until June 2nd.  Hardbacks and paperbacks, non-fiction, fiction, and children’s books are all available for purchase.  

The cost of the books is a donation supporting their special events, including the summer reading program, “Reading Takes You Everywhere” for children age 3-6th grade.
