Jack Cary, of Catlin, was surprised when he received a letter in the mail telling him he had been chosen to be Veteran of the Year. 


Indiana Force 14U wins tournament

The Indiana Force 14U softball team recently went undefeated and won the Swing for a Cure tournament at MSA in Terre Haute.  The Force finished the weekend with a perfect 5-0 record, beating Indiana Terror (Landry), Indiana Outkast, and Indiana Terror (Hanson) three times.


Georgetown approves bid for new police station

Georgetown aldermen approved the low bid of $353,272 from Hillside Development Corp. of Watseka to build a new police station.

Catlin officials recently received the deed to property located at 406 Allison Street. The village acquired the abandoned property through the Vermilion County Trustee land sale.

Tilton trustees recently authorized some costly repairs to its sewer treatment plant.  


Electronics collection events Oct. 28th

DANVILLE – The Vermilion County Health Department will host a free electronics-collection event in late October.

The Vermilion County Health Department will hold a collection from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 in the north parking lot of Danville Area Community College, 2000 East Main Street in Danville for all county residents.

Morey Chapel Church of Christ welcomes The Sharp family from Crawfordsville, IN for their gospel concert on Saturday, October 28.

The Sharp Family sing a Southern bluegrass style andhave sang at many venues including Branson, MO.  


Tilton Fire Department annual haunted house

The Tilton Fire Department is putting on their annual haunted house, “The Foundry of Terror.” 

This event is ran and operated strictly by volunteers and is a fundraiser for the fire department. It is located at I-74 Exit 214 at the old General Motors plant on North J street in Tilton, IL. 


Annual coat drive and giveaway

Georgetown Township is holding their annual Coat Drive on Saturday, October 28 at Westville Village Hall parking lot 201 N. State, and the Georgetown Township Building at 1805 N Main, Georgetown from 9 am -  noon at both locations.
