Eisenhauer: ‘My interest is to finish my career in Rantoul’

Mayor Chuck Smith has selected Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer as Rantoul’s next village administrator. 

The Rantoul Village Board voted 5-0 to approve hiring Eisenhauer as the  next village administrator on October 9.

Vermilion County coal mine close to first state permit

A long-planned coal mine in Vermilion County could soon get one of two state permits it needs to operate.

Sunrise Coal, based in Indiana, wants to set up its Bulldog Mine northeast of Allerton.

Festival of Trees tickets now on sale

Central Illinois residents can get into the holiday spirit early with OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center’s 22nd annual Festival of Trees. 

The 2018 event, Let Heaven and Nature Sing, will be held November 10-14 at the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville.


Greater Shiloh Baptist Church hosting speakers for regional revival

Wood River Region #4 will be hosting their fall revival October 23-25 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church at 609 N. Bowman Ave. in Danville.

The revivals will start at 7 p.m. each night.

On October 23,  the speaker will be Reverend U.D. Williams of Union Baptist Church in Bloomington, Illinois.


War Museum's Night at the Museum event rescheduled for Oct. 20

The Vermilion County War Museum presents “Night at the Museum” this interactive tour takes guests back in time. Mannequins will come to life as Soldiers and civilians as they roam the halls.

Guests should make sure they stop and talk to them as they tell the stories of years gone by and tales from the front. 


October health screenings at Horizon Health

Leighsa Cornwell, RN, BS, community health and disease management coordinator at Horizon Health, will provide blood pressure, blood sugar, and lipid panel (HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) screenings.

The screenings will take place October 19, from 7-9 am. For blood sugar tests, patients are asked to fast eight hours prior to the screening.


Catlin Masons Lodge to host Chicken and Noodle Day

The Catlin Masonic Lodge will be hosting their 4th annual Chicken Noodle Day on October 19, from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The menu will be: Chicken and Noodles, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Bread and Butter, and Cookies.

The cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children.
