Amid smiles and shyness, seven girls and three boys, from the ages of five through eight, participated in the Little Mister and Miss Georgetown contest this year. 


Olivet Holiness campmeeting

The Olivet Holiness Campmeeting will be held from Tuesday, September 5 to Sunday, September 10. Services will be held at 7 pm CST Tuesday through Saturday at 6 p.m. CST on Sunday. The Tabernacle is located in Olivet, Illinois. Turn west off Route 1 on Ash Street. 


Georgetown Telepharmacy grand opening Aug. 26th

Georgetown tables bids for new police station

The Georgetown city council tabled any action on four bids it received for construction of a new police station.


Westville approves new trustee

Mayor Mike Weese appointed Gary Delhaye as a new village trustee with council approval. Delhaye fills the seat vacated last month by Darren Van Duyn, who resigned for personal reasons.  Delhaye will fill the position until the April 2019 election.


Balloons Over Vermilion announces 2018 festival dates

“Save the dates for July 13th and 14th, 2018 when the third annual Balloons Over Vermilion will take to the skies and the grounds at the Vermilion Regional Airport in Danville,” announced event co-chair Pat O’Shaughnessy.  “It’s a labor of love, and it’s worth all the effort to see the smiles on the faces of kids of all ages,” he added.  


Catlin American Legion Cruise-In/Dance

The Catlin American Legion will host Thunder By The Rail Cruise-In/Dance at the Catlin American Legion on Saturday, August 19 from 5-8 pm.


Danville Christian Women's Connection luncheon Aug. 23

The Danville Christian Women’s Connection Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, August 23 from noon - 2 p.m. at the Danville Boat Club. 

The menu will be fried chicken, broccoli raisin salad, whipped potatoes and gravy, green beans, roll, chocolate truffle cake. The cost is $15 per person. 


Solar eclipse viewing party at Kennekuk County Park

All of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun on Monday, August 21.  To celebrate this exciting event, the Vermilion County Conservation District will be hosting a free Solar Eclipse Viewing Party for all ages at Kennekuk County Park's Environmental Education Center from 10:45 am- 4 pm.  Visitors may come and go at any time during this Open House.


Danville Library upcoming events

August 16: Preschool Pals Playgroup returns to meeting at 10 a.m. in the first floor meeting room. For children, ages 2-6 years, and their caregivers.

August 16: Learn the basics of Microsoft Word in the second floor meeting room from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Participants must be familiar with how to use a computer. The class is free, but seating is limited.
