Vinson perfect on bittersweet day

Chase Vinson’s Wednesday morning began with the delivery of horrible news. His summer baseball pitching coach, former Schlarman star and 23-year-old Tyler Brennan, died late April 17 in a single-car accident east of Danville.


Ridge Farm Village Board meeting addresses many issues

The Ridge Farm Village Board meeting was held on April 2 and conducted the following business:

Schendel presented the bills and payroll.  

The Public Works Department has been fixing sewer and water line issues.  


Summer Sounds Concert Series schedule released

Downtown Danville, Inc is very pleased to announce it’s 2018 Summer Sounds Concert Series at Temple Plaza beginning May 25.

The series, which will represent free music in the downtown for 14 straight weeks (skipping July 13 for the Balloons Over Vermilion) has named Portal Entertainment Group as the associate producers. 


Evanston author seeking information about former Georgetown resident

Michael Dice, an author from Evanston, is looking for information about former Georgetown resident, Joseph E. Hill.

Dice is writing a book chronicling the growth and history of the Illinois High School Association’s (IHSA) speech and drama competitions.


Forest Glen announce plans for archery hunts

Beginning in the fall of 2013, the Vermilion County Conservation District initiated a very limited controlled archery deer hunt to reduce whitetail deer populations at Forest Glen Preserve in Westville.

Through this program we have achieved success regarding population control, and the program will continue until we reach our goal.  


War Museum adds second lecture with Astronaut Joe Tanner

Due to popular demand, the Vermilion County War Museum has added an additional lecture with Astronaut Joe Tanner on May 2, at 3pm at the Vermilion County War Museum.  

This is due to the fact that the 5 pm series is full. 


Morey Chapel hosting April gospel sing

Morey Chapel Church of Christ will be welcoming Highway 341 Gospel Connection for their April gospel sing on SUNDAY April 29th at 5:30 p.m. 

 After the concert there will be food and  fellowship. 


Danville Art League to host Color Splash party

April’s Color Splash painting at the Danville Art League will feature colorful windmills and tulips.

Linda Virostek will be the instructor for this acrylic painting.

This Color Splash will be held April 26, from 6-8:30 p.m.


Vermillion County Drainage Board hosting meeting

The Vermillion County, Indiana Drainage Board will be meeting on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Vermillion County Courthouse in Newport, Indiana on the 2nd floor. 


Middlefork Audubon hosting lecture from U of I grad student

Join Middlefork Audubon on April 26th,  7PM, at the Danville Public Library to hear Todd Jones, U of I graduate student/PhD candidate, bring us updates on his research of nesting birds.
