Sabrina Loi chosen as 2018 Vermillion County Fair Queen

Sabrina Loi, of Clinton was chosen as the 2018 Vermillion County Fair Queen Sunday evening.  Sabrina Loi is 18 years old and is the daughter of Jack and Karen Loi.  

Sabrina is a 2018 graduate of South Vermillion High School and plans to attend Indiana University in the Fall and major in pre-optometry.


IEPA official talks plans for closing coal-ash pits near Middle Fork

“In perpetuity.” That was the well-worn phrase of an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency official Monday night, explaining what the state agency expects of any long-term plan to “close” coal-ash impoundments on the former Dynegy power plant property along the Middle Fork River.


Georgetown Ladies Club hosting Junior Miss Contest sign-ups

The Georgetown Ladies Community Club is hosting the Junior Miss Contest this year. Sign-ups will be June 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 25th at 5:30-7pm at the Georgetown Interurban Park.

Containers will be used to gather votes, (A Penny A Vote). All proceeds go towards the Ladies Club’s projects for the community.


Danville Dans offering two-day skill camps with players and coaches

The college players on the Danville Dans roster come to play over the summer and work on their hitting, pitching and fielding skills. Now they’re going to help young ball players improve their baseball technique.


Chrisman Shakespeare Club celebrating 125 year anniversary

President Kay Fidler welcomed ten members and Associate member Norma Jenkins to their June 14, 2018 meeting.

The meeting was hosted by Marilyn Fischer and Paula Bouton at Paula’s home. The nine members enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls and fresh strawberries with whipped cream.


Morey Chapel welcome 'The Padgett's' for June Gospel Sing

Morey Chapel Church of Christ will be will be welcoming  The Padgett’s from Miamisburg, Ohio on June 23 at 5:30 p.m.

 After the concert there will be food and  fellowship. 

The Morey Chapel Women’s Group want to thank everyone who has donated plastic shopping bags for the mats that are being made for homeless Veterans.


Vance Township Library reschedules murder mystery

Vance Township Library has rescheduled their murder mystery tea party to July 14 instead of June 23.

The event will still be held at the Fairmount Fire Station at 5 p.m.

This event will be a very humorous murder mystery. The evening will feature a “tea party” of sandwiches, chips, cupcakes and drinks.

Recently, the chapter funded the purchase of 10 pairs of reading glasses for the Veterans Administration Neuropsych Department.
