Danville graduates make NFL rosters

As teams trimmed their rosters down to 53 players Saturday, two former Danville High School standouts found themselves still on an active roster.

A former Vermilion County coal plant heavily criticized for contaminating groundwater has received a violation notice for alleged contamination of the Middle Fork River.


Applications for Lily Endowment Scholarship now available online

The application process is now open for high school seniors to apply for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship – Fountain & Vermillion County (IN), administered by the Western Indiana Community Foundation. 

Students must apply by August 24 at www.wicf-inc.org.


Keep Vermilion County Beautiful planning litter collection at Kennekuk

Keep Vermilion County Beautiful is planning a litter collection at Kennekuk County Park on May 5 as part of the Great American Cleanup.

Volunteers will meet at the Twin Points shelter in the park at 9 a.m. to receive their litter pickers, garbage bags and their assignments. 

Volunteers will receive a lunch at the shelter at noon.


Eastern Illinois Foodbank announces good giveaway in Ridge Farm

Eastern Illinois Foodbank will distribute a truckload of food to hungry area families.

The distribution will be held at Ridge Farm Fire Protection District (16 W Woodyard Avenue) on Jan. 27 from 10am – 11:30am.  All Vermilion County residents who meet income eligibility criteria are welcome.
